Tech giant YouTube has restored a video of incoming Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni giving a speech in 2019, after the footage was removed “for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.”

Reason reports, “After Reason asked YouTube to explain why it took down the video, the social media site reversed course and restored it.”

A YouTube spokesperson claimed, “Upon careful review, we determined this video is not violative of our Community Guidelines and have reinstated it. We enforce our policies regardless of the speaker’s political views and when it’s brought to our attention that a video has been mistakenly removed, we review the content and take appropriate action, including restoring the relevant videos or channels – as we have done with this video.”

In the speech, Meloni says, “I can’t define myself as Italian, Christian, woman, mother. No. I must be citizen x, gender x, parent 1, parent 2. I must be a number.”

“Because when I am only a number, when I no longer have an identity or roots, then I will be the perfect slave at the mercy of the financial speculators,” Meloni continues. “The perfect consumer.”

“That’s the reason why we inspire so much fear,” Meloni concluded. “That’s why this event inspires so much fear. Because we do not want to be numbers. We will defend the value of the human being. Every single human being. Because each of us has a unique genetic code that is unrepeatable. And like it or not, that is sacred. We will defend it. We will defend God, country and family.”

Despite the fact that Meloni will make history as the first member of her gender to serve as Italy’s Prime Minister, the mainstream press has focused almost exclusively on the beliefs of her and the Brothers of Italy party.

CNN claimed Meloni will “become Italy’s most far-right prime minister since Mussolini,” directly comparing Meloni to the fascist dictator who infamously allied with genocidal dictator Adolf Hitler during the Second World War.

Though the left wing outlet noted that Meloni differs from others on the Italian right by openly supporting Ukraine, they labeled Meloni as a “deeply conservative, openly anti-LBGT” woman who “has also called abortion a ‘tragedy,’” which the outlet claims threatens women’s rights.
